Siberian Larch Horizontal Half Lap Cladding

Dimensions: Approx 25mm X 150mm (Nominal Size)
Approx 21mm X 145mm (Finished Size)

Grade: Saw falling is a grade (contains I-IV’s) that allows a greater number of knots and of a larger size than allowed in Unsorted. It is difficult to give a full description but it is more likely to fit into BS Class 3 but they Russians grade to the GOST rules which are a minefield. (Knot sizes as above, however IV’s have no limited to diameter this is based on a 25x150mm board) 

Due to its high density and inherent characteristics, the stability of Siberian larch tends to be inconsistent.  It may be prone to surface checking (shakes), star shakes, end splits, shelling and cupping, which occurs during changes in atmospheric conditions both before installation and whilst in situ.  Furthermore, some boards may contain resin pockets, loose, branch/splay, black ring, and dead knots and occasional missing knots.  These are all inherent characteristics of the specie and in no way detrimental to its durability or integrity of the cladding, provided it is correctly installed.  Sapwood should be excluded on the face or can be treated.
Please note the above are all-natural characteristics of Larch & not deemed as defects. 

Colour: Varies from light yellow - orange - gold - brown heartwood.

Description: Siberian Larch is one of the most durable species of coniferous wood. Owing to its slow growth rate it has an unusual durability for a softwood with a density of 700 - 800 kg per m3 - dry wood. Owing to its high density Larch has an excellent wear / impact resistance and is an ideal cladding for areas where impact damage may occur, ie schools, shopping areas, public walkways etc.

Cover: 134mm (Including a 4mm expansion gap) - 7.46 linear metres cover 1m2.

Fixing: Face fixed - This profile may be fixed horizontally - 65mm stainless steel nails recommended. Cladding to be fitted with a 4mm expansion gap.

Lengths Available: Supplied in 3m & 4m lengths.

Please note this specie is prone to end splits due to drying, if you are using as a spec length please ensure you have allowed 50mm per end to trim back.
